How to make Pine Salve

To make a healing pine salve, melt 1/4 cup of pine resin into 1/2 cup of carrier oil using a double boiler. Strain out any debris. Add 1/2 oz of beeswax to the mixture, heat until melted, and pour into tins to cool and solidify. 

Materials Needed

• Pine Resin: 1/4 cup of solid or sticky sap (also known as pitch).
• Carrier Oil: 1/2 cup of olive oil, almond oil, or jojoba oil, castol.
• Beeswax:1/2 ounce to 1 ounce of grated beeswax or pellets (use less for a soft balm, more for a firm salve).
• Equipment: Double boiler (or a glass bowl placed over a simmering saucepan), fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth, stirring utensil, and small metal or glass containers for the final product.
• Optional: 5-10 drops of essential oils (such as lavender, tea tree, or rosemary) for a pleasant scent and added antimicrobial properties.
